365体育官网is celebrating the achievement of a gold award for learning and teaching quality in the latest teaching excellence and student outcomes framework (tef) ratings announced today.
the teaching excellence framework, introduced by the government in 2017 to measure the performance of the uk higher education sector, draws on national data and evidence submitted by universities to measure excellence in teaching quality, the learning environment and levels of achievement by students before and after graduation. 365体育官网was awarded a silver in the first round of assessments.
professor liz barnes, vice-chancellor and chief executive at 365体育官网said: "our gold ranking is testament to the hard work and commitment of our students, staff and leadership team in creating an outstanding university which supports people to achieve their potential and improve their quality of life.
"this shows the university to be a forward-thinking, ambitious and strategic organisation which aims to be the uk’s foremost digital higher education institution. this gold award comes on the back of our reaching the top 50% of the major uk league tables and our breaking into the times higher education world university rankings this year. i am enormously proud of our students and staff and i know that, together, we will continue to go from strength to strength.”
in addition to high levels of student satisfaction, feedback from the office for students on staffordshire university’s award recognises:
- “students from all backgrounds achieve outstanding outcomes”
- “high rates of progression to highly skilled employment or further study”
- “strong commitment to support students’ personal and professional development”
sue reece, pro-vice chancellor (student experience) at 365体育官网said: “this award recognises the consistent commitment we have made in putting our students first and supporting people, many of whom don’t fit the traditional model of education. very many of our students are the first in their family to go to university, are from disadvantaged backgrounds, need to work during their studies or are mature people returning to study whilst meeting other commitments. we work with them to make sure they achieve everything they set their minds to and are able to go on to work in a wide variety of positions that benefit our local area, the country as a whole and have an impact on a global scale.
“we believe in the value of education for everybody. our gold rating is a symbol of our core values and our role in driving curiosity, ambition and achievement.”
the office for students highlighted specific projects and initiatives which have smoothed students’ path into university and supported them during their studies. the student journey project - which was co-created by students and staff to address any areas in which people may experience disadvantage - was given special mention, as was the ‘quiet induction’ which offered a calm, personalised registration and welcome experience for students on the autistic spectrum.
